London Skinner Releasing Easter School 2006


Gaby Agis - Skinner Releasing morning class, Moving the Image week one intensive
Gaby Agis s one of the pioneers of collaborative performance in Britain, working with leading artists of her generation from other disciplines in galleries, museums and theatres. She founded Gaby Agis & Company in 1985 and the artists she has worked with are Turner Prize nominee Isaac Julien, sculptors Kate Blacker and Cornelia Parker, composers David Sylvian and Gavin Bryars, architects Muf, and the director Atom Eyogan. Notably, she was choreographer of Atom Eyogan’s production of Gavin Bryars’ opera Doctor Ox’s Experiment for the English National Opera, and in 2000 she was commissioned to choreograph a piece for the Royal Opening of the Millennium Bridge in 2001. Among her recent work is Explicit Faith that played to sell-out houses in July 2004 at LSO St. Luke’s creating a “new venue on the dance map” (Time Out) and Touch Un-Sited, which was performed as part of the celebrations for Architecture Week 2005.

Jennifer Monson
- Knowing the Will week three intensive
Jennifer Monson is an improvisational practitioner and choreographer. She is dedicated to the art of performance as an improvisational form. She has created a wide body of work that incorporates well-developed collaborative relationships with many artists including Zeena Parkins, Yvonne Meier, David Zambrano, and DD Dorvillier. Recently she has used the concept of navigation as a way of informing her work and in the past four years has completed three migratory dance tours that followed the journeys of Gray Whales, Ospreys and Ducks and Geese. Dancing outside has deeply affected her practice. She teaches to a wide range of communities both globally and locally. She is currently working on iLAND – Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Art, Nature and Dance that will be a sustainable artist in residence facility for artists, environmentalists, scientists and urban designers in Brooklyn.

Florence Peake - Skinner Releasing morning class
Florence Peake is a London-based dance artist and Skinner Releasing Technique teacher. Florence has worked extensively with a wide range of choreographers, visual artists and film makers. She now makes her own work where she brings together her interests in the visual arts and movement. Most recently she performed her work in San Fransico, New York and Prague, and teaches workshops nationally and internationally. She is a Dance Lecturer at Middlesex University where teaches SRT and Improvisation.

Lionel Popkin - Skinner Releasing morning class, Image/Set week two intensive
Lionel Popkin is an independent choreographer and dancer and has performed his own work in a number of cities such as Budapest, London, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Diego, Seattle and Washington, DC. He has danced in many companies including those of Trisha Brown, Terry Creach and Stephanie Skura. He is a certified teacher of Skinner Releasing Technique and has been deeply influenced by the work of Susan Klein and Barbara Mahler. He has served on the faculty of numerous universities including Temple University, Sarah Lawrence College, the University of Maryland and the Laban Centre.
