Moving Away, Coming Together

Friday 4th July: Evelina Children's Hospital
Thursday 8th May: Chelsea & Westminster Hospital
Friday 4th April: Enfield Grammar School

Moving Away, Coming Together is a new inclusive dance performance created by UK choreographer Kirstie Richardson with an integrated group of 20 children of diverse abilities from across Enfield borough. This inspiring new work has evolved from young people’s creative responses to Doris Salcedo’s Shibboleth exhibition at Tate Modern (the crack) – asking ‘whose side are you on?’ and ‘where do you belong?’

Moving Away, Coming Together celebrates our differences as well as our shared identities, how we come together and why we move apart.

Choreographer Kirstie Richardson has worked extensively with dance and disability over the past ten years, most prominently with CanDoCo dance company, Graeae, London Metropolitan University and as a programme artist on Falling Wide's Breathing Space Children's Programme. Her most recent choreographic work, the duet Intimate Contenders, was presented at Herald St gallery (Nov 2007) as part of the Dance Art season and at Outsider Dancing, Toynbee Studios (Jul 2007). A distinguished dancer, Kirstie performed for numerous internationally recognised choreographers including Bill T Jones (USA) and Gaby Agis (UK), and choreographed and performed in Sarah Miles' film No Place. She has taught extensively in further and higher education and as a Freelance Education Officer for Richard Alston Dance Company, English National Ballet, Falling Wide and the Circus Space.
